For two decades, Dan Crane has worked as a documentary filmmaker and journalist, making films for Netflix, Showtime, CNN, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, and theatrical release, as well as writing for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, California Sunday, Slate, and others.
In 2004, Dan Crane began working with Morgan Neville (Tremolo Productions) on several of Neville’s early projects, including Oscar winner, 20 Feet from Stardom. Then, after a decade focused on journalism, Crane returned to filmmaking in 2019, working as a writer, director, producer and story consultant alongside directors such as Frank Marshall, Matt Tyrnauer, Orlando von Einsiedel, and Tamara Kotevska. He’s collaborated with production companies including Kennedy/Marshall Documentaries, Wavelength Productions, Participant, Grain Media, Radical Media, Uninterrupted/Spring Hill, and One Planet One Future.
Crane’s directorial debut, Let Me Be Me, was nominated for an Emmy in 2023.
