In 2004, Dan Crane moved to LA to work with Morgan Neville (Tremolo Productions) doing film-to-digital transfers, production audio, and composing music for several of Neville’s projects including Oscar winner, 20 Feet from Stardom. His obsession with documentaries inflated when he accidentally found himself starring in the cult hit, Air Guitar Nation (2006).
After working as a freelance journalist for many years, in 2019 Crane produced The End of the World, about Bennington College in the ’80s for Showtime, directed by Matt Tyrnauer (Altimeter Films) . Since then, he’s worked as a writer/director/producer with Kennedy/Marshall Documentaries, Wavelength Productions, Participant, Grain Media, Radical Media, Uninterrupted/Spring Hill, and One Planet One Future.
His directorial debut, Let Me Be Me, was nominated for an Emmy in 2023 and RATHER, a documentary about the life of journalist Dan Rather is on Netflix from April 24, 2024.
